Description: Join Robin Tutor from the NC Agromedicine Institute and Matt Lange from Compeer Financial for a dinner meeting focused on dealing with emotional and financial stress.

This 2019 Dairy Winter Management Series dinner meeting is designed for farm "family" members (related or not!) who work together, not just the primary owner/operator. Between 5 and 6:30pm, Robin will address ways to recognize triggers and implement strategies to deal with high stakes stress in our family businesses, as well as refer to resources to help families maintain healthy relationships. Dinner will be provided to all who RSVP before Wednesday, February 13 by calling (704) 873-0507. From 7-8:30pm, Matt will provide a brief dairy outlook for 2019 and follow-up with a guided exercise focused on important financial ratios that participants can replicate at home with their own data. More information is available at https://dairy.ces.ncsu.edu.

Support for this program is provided by Carolina Farm Credit and NC State Extension.

Description: Dairy farms across the country have struggled with low milk prices, negative cash flow and reductions in equity positions over the last 3 years. Cost of production varies significantly from operation to operation throughout the nation, and for many who have weathered the slim to negative margins they have experienced since 2015, decisions to exit have been less a choice and more of a forced option. This project will focus on helping dairy producers and service providers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia better understand the dairy risk management strategies and tools available to mitigate marketing and financial risks through a series of 2 regional workshops and 12 monthly webinars. The two regional workshops have been scheduled for May 29, 2019 (Roanoke, VA) and May 30, 2019 (Belmont, NC).  The programs will run from 10am - 2pm with registration open at 9:30am at each location.

If you are a dairy producer interested in learning more about dairy risk management policy options available to you, as well as risk management strategies for commodities inputs and marketing milk, please plan to attend one of the workshops. The main speaker at the workshops is Sara Dorland, Managing Partner of Ceres Dairy Risk Management, LLC.  Sara is part of the Daily Dairy Report staff and specializes in interpreting dairy market data so that farmers understand what's important and why.

Please RSVP before May 23, 2019 to reserve a space and ensure your lunch! See the attached flyer for details regarding RSVP and locations.
