Southeast Farmstead Dairy Products Competition Announced

Description of categories for 2026 Southeast Farmstead Dairy Products Competition

This year, the Southeast Dairy Business Innovation Initiative is pooling resources with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture by simultaneously running the TN State Fair Dairy Products Competition and the Southeast Farmstead Dairy Products Competition. The judging date will be May 15th. Judges will be available for scheduled online consultations on May 16th. 

  • Product Delivery/Shipping: Entries must be shipped so they arrive either May 13th or 14th to Wilson County-Tennessee State Fair Attn: Shari Bazydola Fair Office 945 E. Baddour Parkway Lebanon, TN 37087. NC Producers: If you plan to ship products to the competition, reach out to ncdairyextension@ncsu.edu first for a prepaid shipping lable!
  • Hand Delivered Product: Can be dropped off between 10am-2pm or 4pm-7pm, May 13th and 14th (follow fair meeting signs). If you are in need of assistance, please call: (615) 443-2626
  • Evaluation: In addition to the competitive classes listed on the flyer below, processors may submit samples of other dairy products for expert evaluation, scoring, and feedback.

Winners for both competitions will be announced at the Southeast Value-Added Dairy Conference during lunch on July 30th.

Eligibility
For the Farmstead Dairy Products Competition entries must be produced by a farmstead or single milk source facility located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, or Puerto Rico. Entries must represent a typical commercially available sample of the product being entered.
