If you are going to think about benchmarks for your dairy operation, now is as good a time as any since you're probably pulling together information from the farm to send to your accountant.  Why not use that same information to enter your farm's data into the Dairy Gauge Program so that you can benefit from the region's dairy benchmark database?!?!

All you need to complete the Dairy Gauge worksheet (an Excel workbook with 3 tabs for you to type in your data) include:

• Annual income and expense statement (aka - Profit/Loss Statement)
• Annual milk marketing summary for calendar year 2022
• Most current balance sheet (if you do not have one, we can help create one)
• Average number of lactating and dry cows in 2022
• Schedule F, if available

Submit your completed Dairy Gauge worksheets to bfwhitmi@ncsu.edu who will code them so that your data remains anonymous.  Reports from Dairy Gauge include aggregated data and averages across the dataset, so individual farm data remains confidential.  If you have questions or are interested in getting in the program, please let Brittany Whitmire know!  We need you to make this effort successful.
