NC department of Agriculture is offering free EID (Electronic Identification) ear tags to the cattle producers of North Carolina. These 2 piece button style tags have the ability to be scanned with a reader for easy record keeping. Each tag has a unique ID number printed on it. At the very least these tags will give you an additional method of ID as well as enhance our ability to help trace animals in the the event of a disease outbreak. This program is very similar to the scrapie tag program that our small ruminant producers participate in.
